Karachi University Mandates VC Approval for Events and Seminars
KARACHI: Karachi University has announced that prior approval from the Vice Chancellor is now mandatory for hosting any program, seminar, or event on campus. This directive was issued through an official notification by the university’s Registrar, Professor Dr. Imran Ahmed Siddiqui, on October 23, 2026.
The notification, numbered No.B/Estt.(T)/(Permission)/2026, aims to streamline the organization of events and ensure that they align with the university’s policies and standards. Dr. Siddiqui emphasized the importance of maintaining academic integrity and order within the university premises, stating, “This measure is essential for upholding the university’s reputation and ensuring that all activities contribute positively to our academic environment.”
This new requirement is expected to have significant implications for student organizations and faculty members who frequently conduct events. By centralizing the approval process, the university aims to enhance coordination and oversight, potentially reducing conflicts and ensuring that all events are appropriately vetted.
Moving forward, university departments and student bodies will need to familiarize themselves with the new protocol and prepare their event proposals well in advance. The administration has indicated that further guidelines and a streamlined application process will be provided to facilitate compliance.
