Dead by Daylight Delists Chucky DLC as Licensing Agreement Expires

Dead by Daylight Chucky DLC

MONTREAL: Canadian video game developer Behaviour Interactive has announced that the popular Chucky Chapter downloadable content (DLC) will be permanently removed from all digital storefronts for its asymmetrical multiplayer horror title, Dead by Daylight. According to an official update issued by the studio, the expansion featuring the iconic horror villain—known in-game as “The Good Guy”—will leave all digital retail platforms on Tuesday, November 24, 2026, at 08:00 PM PKT (11:00 AM Eastern Time).

The impending delisting leaves players with a restricted timeframe to acquire the chapter, which introduced Chucky alongside distinct gameplay mechanics, a third-person camera perspective, and customized voice lines. Studio representatives confirmed that players who already own or purchase the Chucky DLC prior to the deadline will retain complete access to the character, associated perks, and purchased cosmetics. However, prospective buyers will be unable to purchase the standalone DLC or character pack across PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch storefronts once the deadline passes.

Industry analysts point out that character removals in live-service titles like Dead by Daylight are customarily triggered by the expiration of intellectual property licensing agreements between interactive entertainment developers and Hollywood media conglomerates. Previous occurrences within the franchise, including the temporary delisting of the Stranger Things expansion, underscore the intricate legal framework governing third-party crossover content in contemporary gaming. Although licensing transitions present ongoing challenges for preservation, they frequently drive surges in digital storefront transactions.

Behaviour Interactive has advised community members intending to add the slasher icon to their character rosters to complete their purchases ahead of the global cutoff time. Server maintenance and storefront updates are scheduled to execute concurrently across international regions to phase out the DLC listing. Moving forward, the Montreal-based developer affirmed its commitment to supporting Dead by Daylight through upcoming original chapters and future licensed intellectual property partnerships.
