Pakistan’s 5G Rollout Delayed by Two Years, Government Confirms

Pakistan 5G rollout

ISLAMABAD: The government of Pakistan announced on Friday that the nationwide rollout of 5G services is expected to take an additional two years, as officials outlined the challenges facing the telecommunications sector.

During a session in the National Assembly, the Minister for Information Technology revealed that while significant progress has been made, various regulatory and infrastructural hurdles remain. “We are committed to bringing 5G technology to Pakistan, but it requires careful planning and execution to ensure a successful launch,” the minister stated.

This delay in 5G implementation has raised concerns among citizens and businesses alike, as the technology is seen as crucial for enhancing connectivity and driving economic growth. Experts warn that prolonged delays could hinder Pakistan’s competitiveness in the global digital economy, particularly as neighboring countries advance their own 5G networks.

Looking ahead, the government plans to convene a series of meetings with stakeholders in the telecom industry to address the existing challenges and expedite the rollout process. Officials are optimistic that with collaborative efforts, the timeline for 5G deployment can be shortened.
