PIA Resumes Direct Flights Between Islamabad and Beijing from October 30
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has officially announced the resumption of its direct commercial flight operations connecting Islamabad and Beijing, scheduled to commence on October 30. The strategic move restores a critical air bridge between the capitals of Pakistan and China, offering a streamlined travel link designed to cater to growing diplomatic, corporate, and public transit demands.
According to the national flag carrier, the Islamabad–Beijing–Islamabad service will operate on a weekly basis, with scheduled departures every Friday. Airline authorities confirmed that the direct connectivity will substantially eliminate the excessive transit delays, visa complications, and operational inconveniences associated with multi-stop layovers in third countries. The route will be serviced by wide-body aircraft equipped to handle both passenger traffic and cargo requirements across the corridor.
The restoration of direct flights comes at an opportune moment as Islamabad and Beijing work to accelerate the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Thousands of Pakistani students enrolled in Chinese higher education institutions, business delegations, and technical experts participating in infrastructural joint ventures stand to benefit directly from reduced travel times and affordable non-stop access between the two partner nations.
Aviation analysts view the route revival as an essential step in PIA’s broader strategy to rehabilitate high-yield international destinations amid ongoing institutional reforms and privatisation plans. As Pakistan’s aviation sector aims for operational sustainability, airline officials indicated that passenger load factors and cargo demand will be closely monitored, with possibilities of expanding weekly frequencies in the subsequent operational quarter.
