UAE Announces New Fees for Pakistani E-Passports and MRPs
DUBAI: The Pakistani Embassy in the United Arab Emirates has announced new fee structures for the issuance of five-year e-passports and ten-year Machine Readable Passports (MRPs) for Pakistani expatriates residing in the UAE. The updated fee schedule was released on October 23, 2026, and aims to streamline the passport application process for the large Pakistani community in the region.
According to the embassy’s announcement, the new fees reflect adjustments to align with current economic conditions and operational costs. The Pakistani diplomatic mission emphasized that these changes are intended to enhance service delivery and ensure that expatriates can access essential travel documents efficiently.
This update is significant for the approximately 1.6 million Pakistanis living in the UAE, many of whom rely on these passports for travel and employment opportunities. The revised fees could impact the financial planning of families who frequently travel between Pakistan and the UAE, as well as those seeking to renew their passports.
Looking ahead, the embassy plans to hold informational sessions to guide expatriates through the new fee structure and application process. Officials encourage Pakistani nationals to stay informed about any further updates regarding passport services and related consular assistance.
