KARACHI: Farooq Sattar, a prominent political leader, has emphasized the urgent need for the creation of new provinces in Pakistan to address the challenges posed by the country’s rapidly growing population. Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Sattar highlighted that the current administrative structure is inadequate to manage the increasing demographic pressures.

During his address, Sattar stated, “As our population continues to rise, the demand for effective governance and resource distribution becomes more critical. New provinces are essential to ensure that all citizens receive equitable services and representation.” He pointed out that the existing provinces are struggling to meet the needs of their constituents, leading to inefficiencies and public dissatisfaction.

The call for new provinces comes at a time when Pakistan’s population is projected to exceed 240 million by 2025, raising concerns about resource allocation, infrastructure, and public services. Experts argue that restructuring provincial boundaries could enhance administrative efficiency and foster regional development, ultimately benefiting the economy and social cohesion.

Looking ahead, Sattar urged the government to initiate discussions on provincial reforms and engage with stakeholders across the political spectrum. He proposed that a committee be formed to explore the feasibility of new provinces and to address the legal and constitutional implications of such changes.
