NADRA Outlines Process for Converting National ID to NICOP for Overseas Pakistanis
ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced the procedure for converting a National Identity Card (NIC) into a National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP). This conversion is essential for Pakistani citizens planning to reside abroad, ensuring they have the appropriate identification while overseas.
NADRA officials emphasized that the process is straightforward and can be completed at designated registration centers. Citizens are encouraged to initiate this conversion before their departure to avoid any complications during their stay abroad. The authority aims to facilitate overseas Pakistanis by providing them with a reliable identity document that meets international standards.
This initiative is significant as it not only simplifies the identification process for Pakistanis living abroad but also strengthens their ties to their homeland. Having a NICOP allows overseas citizens to access various services and benefits, including banking and property transactions, without facing bureaucratic hurdles.
Moving forward, NADRA plans to enhance its outreach programs to educate citizens about the NICOP conversion process. Upcoming workshops and informational sessions will be held at various community centers to ensure that all eligible individuals are aware of the requirements and benefits associated with obtaining a NICOP.
