Pakistan Urges Stronger Economic Solidarity Among OIC Member States

OIC economic solidarity

ISTANBUL: Pakistan’s Commerce Minister Jam Kamal has called for enhanced economic solidarity and improved access to trade financing among member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) during the closing session of the 42nd COMCEC Ministerial Session.

Speaking on behalf of OIC member states, Kamal emphasized the urgency of collective action in light of rising geopolitical tensions, supply chain disruptions, and increasing protectionism. He expressed gratitude to the Turkish government for its hospitality and acknowledged the efforts of the COMCEC Coordination Office and OIC institutions in facilitating the session.

Kamal highlighted the significant economic potential of OIC countries, noting their geographical advantages, human resources, and natural endowments. He argued that these assets could be leveraged for mutual prosperity through stronger partnerships and coordinated policies.

Looking ahead, the minister urged member states to prioritize economic cooperation and explore new avenues for trade and investment. Future meetings are expected to focus on actionable strategies to enhance intra-OIC trade and address the challenges posed by current global economic conditions.
