JUI-F Protests Against Alleged Campaign Targeting Leader Fazlur Rehman
QUETTA / LARKANA: The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) staged widespread protests across Sindh and Balochistan on Friday, condemning what they termed a “coordinated character assassination campaign” against their leader, Maulana Fazlur Rehman. Demonstrations erupted in various district headquarters, including Quetta, Khuzdar, and Awaran, as party members rallied in support of their leader.
Participants, including party officials, religious scholars, and local political figures, voiced their solidarity with Maulana Fazlur Rehman during the protests. They criticized the alleged drone surveillance of his residence and the subsequent dissemination of footage on social media, labeling such actions as unacceptable in a civilized society. Speakers highlighted the Maulana’s contributions to upholding the Constitution, democracy, and public rights.
The protests reflect growing tensions surrounding political discourse in Pakistan, particularly as accusations of character assassination and surveillance raise concerns about privacy and political freedom. The JUI-F’s stance underscores the party’s commitment to defending its leadership against perceived threats, which could resonate with their voter base amid a politically charged environment.
Looking ahead, the JUI-F plans to escalate its campaign for transparency in foreign investment deals, calling for accountability in governance. The party’s leadership is expected to hold further discussions on strategies to counteract the alleged smear campaign and to mobilize support across the country.
