Zong Launches 5G Home Broadband Amid Criticism Over Slow Speeds

ISLAMABAD: Zong has officially launched Z HomeFi, touted as Pakistan’s first 5G home broadband service, offering an entry plan of 10 Mbps with 100GB of data for Rs 4,500 per month. Despite the company’s own trials showcasing speeds exceeding 1.4 Gbps, the consumer offering has raised eyebrows due to its relatively slow speed.

Industry experts have expressed concerns regarding the pricing and speed of Zong’s new service. “While the technology promises high speeds, the actual consumer experience falls short of expectations,” said a telecommunications analyst. The launch comes at a time when the demand for high-speed internet is surging across the country, particularly in urban areas.

This development has significant implications for consumers who are increasingly reliant on fast internet for work, education, and entertainment. Critics argue that the pricing structure does not align with the service quality, potentially limiting access to high-speed internet for many households.

Looking ahead, Zong is expected to enhance its offerings and address consumer feedback. The company may also face increased competition as other providers look to enter the 5G market, which could lead to better pricing and service options for consumers in the near future.
