Punjab Authority Issues 11,752 E-Challans for Overloading Violations

LAHORE: The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has issued a total of 11,752 electronic challans this month for violations related to vehicle overloading across the province. This initiative, powered by AI-driven cameras and the PSCA’s Virtual Traffic Management System, aims to enhance road safety and compliance with transportation regulations.

According to a spokesperson from the PSCA, the breakdown of the violations includes 6,204 instances where vehicles were found carrying more passengers than legally permitted, alongside 5,548 cases where cargo exceeded the prescribed limits. The advanced system utilizes artificial intelligence to accurately identify and document these infractions, thereby streamlining enforcement efforts.

This significant enforcement action underscores the government’s commitment to improving traffic management and safety standards in Punjab. By leveraging technology, the PSCA aims to reduce road accidents and ensure that both passenger and cargo vehicles adhere to legal limits, ultimately contributing to safer roads for all citizens.

Looking ahead, the PSCA plans to continue monitoring traffic violations through its AI systems and may expand its operations to include additional types of infractions. Authorities are also expected to engage in public awareness campaigns to educate drivers about the importance of compliance with loading regulations.
