Pakistan Integrates Cybercrime Reporting into Police Helpline 15 System
ISLAMABAD: Citizens across Pakistan can now report cybercrimes directly through the Police Emergency Helpline 15, following a significant integration of police emergency call systems with the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA). This initiative aims to streamline the reporting process and enhance the response to cybercrime incidents nationwide.
NCCIA Director General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi announced that the emergency helpline systems operating in various provinces and major cities have been connected with the NCCIA. This integration is designed to facilitate quicker and more efficient reporting of cybercrimes, which have been on the rise in recent years. Rizvi emphasized the importance of this development in empowering citizens to take action against cyber threats.
The move is expected to bolster digital security for individuals and businesses alike, as cybercrime poses a growing threat to the economy and personal safety. By providing a direct line to law enforcement, the initiative not only raises awareness about cybercrime but also encourages victims to report incidents without fear or hesitation.
Looking ahead, the NCCIA plans to conduct awareness campaigns to educate the public on how to effectively use the helpline and recognize cyber threats. Additionally, further enhancements to the reporting system are anticipated to improve the overall efficiency of cybercrime investigations.
