DPM Dar Leads Pakistan’s Delegation at SCO Meeting in Tajikistan

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has departed for Tajikistan to lead Pakistan’s delegation at the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting. This significant gathering is set to take place on October 16-17, 2023, and aims to enhance regional cooperation and address pressing economic challenges.

During his visit, DPM Dar is expected to engage in discussions with leaders from member states, focusing on economic collaboration and security issues. In a statement prior to his departure, Dar emphasized the importance of multilateral dialogue in fostering stability and prosperity in the region, stating, “Pakistan is committed to playing a proactive role in the SCO framework to strengthen economic ties and enhance regional security.”

This meeting holds broader implications for Pakistan’s foreign policy, particularly in strengthening ties with neighboring countries and addressing economic concerns exacerbated by global inflation. Analysts suggest that Dar’s participation could pave the way for new trade agreements and collaborative projects that benefit the South Asian region.

Following the SCO meeting, DPM Dar is expected to report back on the outcomes and any agreements reached, with potential follow-up meetings planned to solidify partnerships. The Pakistani government aims to leverage this platform to enhance its international standing and economic resilience.
