AJK Former PM Calls for Dialogue to Address Poonch Protest Unrest
MUZAFFARABAD: Former Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider has urged for immediate dialogue with the protesters in Poonch, emphasizing the need for newly elected President Dr Najeeb Naqi and Prime Minister Iftikhar Gillani to engage with demonstrators to understand their grievances.
Addressing concerns regarding the ongoing unrest in Poonch, Mr. Haider highlighted the region’s historical significance as a center of the freedom movement. He expressed apprehension about the escalating tensions and the potential consequences for the local populace.
Despite acknowledging his differences with the protesters, Haider stressed that dialogue remains the most effective means to resolve the issues at hand. “I must warn the protesters that the situation requires a peaceful resolution through conversation,” he stated, advocating for a constructive approach to address the community’s demands.
