Aleem Directs NHA to Collaborate with Foreign Experts on Road Safety

ISLAMABAD: Communications Minister Abdul Aleem Khan has instructed the National Highway Authority (NHA) to collaborate with foreign experts to enhance road engineering and highway design during a meeting held on Wednesday.

The meeting, chaired by Aleem, focused on reviewing the NHA’s ongoing and proposed projects, revenue enhancement strategies, road safety measures, and developmental programs. The minister emphasized the need for improved engineering practices to ensure road safety in the construction of new highways, asserting that the protection of human lives must remain the top priority.

Aleem expressed concerns regarding the design of the M-4 and other highways, advocating for roads in Pakistan to be green, safe, comfortable, and aligned with modern international standards. He urged NHA officials to adopt international best practices in engineering to develop motorways that prioritize safety and comfort for motorists.

During the high-level meeting, Aleem highlighted that the NHA had successfully met its revenue enhancement target set two years ago, indicating progress in the authority’s financial management. He called for continued efforts to engage foreign expertise in road design and engineering to further improve the infrastructure.
