Bajaur District Bans Pillion Riding for 10 Days Amid Security Concerns
BAJAUR: The district administration has imposed a ban on pillion riding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur for a duration of 10 days, effective immediately, due to escalating security concerns. This decision, announced on Thursday, follows the invocation of Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) in response to alarming reports from intelligence agencies and local police.
The notification issued by Deputy Commissioner Adnan Farid’s office emphasized the necessity of this measure, citing the potential use of motorcycles in terrorist activities as a significant risk. The DC stated that there were sufficient grounds to enforce this restriction as an immediate preventive action aimed at ensuring public safety and maintaining law and order in the district.
This ban, which will remain in effect until November 7 unless revoked earlier, underscores the authorities’ commitment to safeguarding citizens amid rising threats. Violators of this order will face penalties under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which addresses disobedience to public servant orders.
As the situation evolves, local authorities are expected to monitor compliance closely and assess the security landscape. Residents are urged to adhere to the ban to avoid legal repercussions and contribute to the overall safety of the community.
