Balochistan Assembly Passes Key Bills to Enhance Legal Framework
QUETTA: The Balochistan Assembly convened on Tuesday to pass two significant amendment bills aimed at bolstering the province’s legal and public service framework. The session, presided over by Speaker Abdul Khaliq Achakzai, saw the approval of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1898 Balochistan Amendment Bill and the Balochistan Citizen Facilitation and Governance Bill 2026.
Provincial Minister Mir Saleem Khosa, representing the home minister, introduced both pieces of legislation, which were passed following recommendations from the Standing Committee on Home Affairs. The amendments are expected to streamline legal processes and enhance governance in the province.
The passage of these bills signifies a proactive approach by the Balochistan government to address legal and administrative challenges faced by citizens. It reflects a commitment to improving public service delivery and ensuring that legal frameworks are updated to meet contemporary needs.
In addition to the bills that were passed, the Balochistan Cadet Colleges Amendment Bill 2026 was presented but referred to the relevant standing committee for further review. The assembly’s actions come amid ongoing discussions about governance and public service reforms in the region.
