Balochistan Assembly Raises Alarm Over Escalating Law and Order Crisis

QUETTA: Members of the Balochistan Assembly, both from the opposition and treasury, voiced urgent concerns on Wednesday regarding the deteriorating law and order situation in the province, highlighting a troubling increase in violent incidents and the abduction of women.

During the assembly session, Speaker Captain (retd) Abdul Khaliq Achakzai took immediate notice of the alarming situation, requesting detailed reports on recent incidents in Khuzdar and Kalat. He summoned the deputy inspectors general (DIGs) of police to appear before the House, bringing along the first information reports (FIRs) related to these incidents.

Provincial Assembly member Sardar Abdul Rahman Khetran raised a particularly distressing case, revealing that the bodies of two brothers had been discovered in Barkhan just two days prior. He alleged that the brothers were abducted by a banned outfit, questioning the motives behind their killings and emphasizing the need for accountability in such violent acts.

The assembly also passed the Balochistan Water Resources Management Bill, 2026, amidst these discussions. As the law and order situation continues to worsen, the assembly’s actions signal a pressing need for enhanced security measures and a comprehensive strategy to address the rising violence in the region.
