Balochistan Government Invests Rs14bn in Counterterrorism Efforts

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has announced significant investments in counterterrorism, revealing that over Rs14 billion has been allocated to combat terrorism through various initiatives. This announcement was made by senior provincial officials during a press conference on Tuesday.

Officials reported that 18 laws have been enacted and 17 institutions established as part of the National Action Plan and Provincial Action Plan. They highlighted that more than 60,000 counterterrorism operations have been conducted across the province, resulting in the deaths of over 1,000 terrorists. The Counter-Terrorism Department alone has accounted for 250 terrorist fatalities and the arrest of an additional 250 suspects. However, the ongoing violence has claimed the lives of 101 police personnel, approximately 200 members of law enforcement, and 551 civilians.

This extensive counterterrorism effort underscores the provincial government’s commitment to enhancing security in Balochistan, a region historically plagued by violence and unrest. The measures aim to restore peace and stability, which are crucial for the socio-economic development of the area.

Looking ahead, the provincial government plans to continue its operations and strengthen its security framework to ensure the safety of its citizens. Further updates on the effectiveness of these measures and future strategies are expected in upcoming press briefings.
