Charsadda School Seals 12 Classrooms Amid Safety Concerns for Students
CHARSADDA: The district education officer (DEO) has ordered the sealing of 12 classrooms and the principal’s office at the Government Shaheed Tariq Sentinel Model High School in Turangzai, following concerns over the building’s deteriorating condition. This decision was made on Saturday as part of efforts to ensure the safety of students, who will be relocated to safer rooms.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Dr Mohammad Fakhre Alam Irfan took notice of the school’s plight after images and reports highlighting the unsafe environment circulated widely on social media. DEO Fazal Wahid, accompanied by deputy DEO Zubair Khalil and other officials, conducted an inspection of the premises, where the principal, Mohammad Ayaz Khan, detailed the challenges faced by students due to the building’s state.
Wahid emphasized that the safety of students is the department’s top priority, stating, “We are committed to ensuring that academic activities continue without interruption while addressing these safety concerns.” The inspection was prompted by directives from the chief secretary, reflecting a growing awareness of the need for improved infrastructure in educational institutions.
Moving forward, the school administration has been instructed to maintain academic continuity and utilize all available resources to support students during this transition. The situation underscores the urgent need for investment in school infrastructure across the region to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
