China Urges Dialogue to Resolve Middle East Crisis in Key Diplomatic Meetings

Middle East Crisis

BEIJING: China has intensified its diplomatic efforts to address the ongoing Middle East crisis, advocating for a return to negotiations during a series of meetings with Iranian, Omani, and Saudi officials on Monday.

The discussions come in the wake of renewed tensions following US President Donald Trump’s recent threats of military action, which have escalated the conflict that began over eight months ago due to US-Israeli strikes on Iran. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized Beijing’s support for Tehran in maintaining its sovereignty and security during his talks with Ali Bagheri Kani, Iran’s deputy secretary of the Supreme National Security Council.

Wang further called for constructive dialogue aimed at resolving the conflict while ensuring regional energy security and the safety of maritime routes, as he engaged with Saudi National Security Adviser Musaad bin Mohammad al-Aiban. This diplomatic push underscores China’s role as a key economic partner to Iran and its desire for stability in the region.

Looking ahead, analysts suggest that these meetings could pave the way for further multilateral discussions involving other regional players, potentially leading to a de-escalation of tensions. The international community will be closely monitoring the outcomes of these talks as they could significantly impact geopolitical dynamics in the Middle East.
