ISLAMABAD: The Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has expressed confidence in Pakistan’s operational readiness for drone warfare, stating that the country is significantly ahead of both the Afghan Taliban and India in this regard. His comments were made during a recent interview with Reuters, where he addressed the evolving military landscape and the adoption of emerging technologies by the Pakistani military.

In the interview, aired on local media on Sunday, Chaudhry responded to concerns regarding the Afghan Taliban’s use of drones, particularly in light of their increasing deployment in conflicts across the Middle East. He remarked, “It’s a narrow thing that I’ll be worried about the drones being used by Afghanistan,” emphasizing that the Taliban lacks independent military capabilities and relies on support from external sponsors. He further characterized the Afghan Taliban as a proxy for India, which he labeled as the “biggest terror sponsor” in the region.

Chaudhry’s statements underscore the ongoing tensions between Islamabad and Kabul, particularly as Pakistan navigates its security challenges in a complex geopolitical environment. The assertion of technological superiority in drone warfare may serve to bolster national morale and reassure citizens of the military’s preparedness to address potential threats.

Looking ahead, the Pakistani military is expected to continue enhancing its technological capabilities, with a focus on integrating advanced systems into its operational framework. This development may lead to further discussions on defense strategies and regional security dynamics, particularly as Pakistan seeks to maintain stability amidst rising tensions with neighboring countries.
