DG ISPR Asserts Pakistan’s Fight Against Terrorism Is Paramount and Unyielding

ISLAMABAD: The Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, emphasized on Thursday that Pakistan’s ongoing battle against terrorism is of utmost importance and cannot be compromised for political agendas. His remarks came during a press conference aimed at countering Indian claims regarding the neutralization of an individual allegedly linked to the Pakistan Army in an encounter in the Korag area of India-occupied Kashmir.

Chaudhry addressed concerns raised by political leaders advocating for negotiations with the Afghan Taliban, stating that while differing opinions on counter-terrorism strategies exist, it is crucial to engage in discussions to forge a unified approach. “There is no problem in it. We need to discuss, and we need to come, and we need to say that yes, this is how we need to go forward and fight this,” he asserted.

The military spokesperson reiterated that the fight against terrorism is an enduring struggle that must be won, declaring, “We will win it,” and underscoring that there is no alternative. He highlighted Pakistan’s status as the largest victim of terrorism, reinforcing the necessity of a collective national effort to combat this menace.

Looking ahead, the DG ISPR’s statements signal a potential shift towards a more unified national strategy against terrorism, as discussions among political leaders are encouraged. The military’s commitment to this cause may lead to renewed efforts in policy formulation and implementation to address the ongoing security challenges faced by the nation.
