Fazlur Rehman Seeks to Broker Crucial Talks Between PTI and Government

ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman is actively seeking to facilitate a crucial political dialogue between the opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the ruling coalition government to defuse the ongoing political impasse. This significant development was disclosed by JUI-F Senator Kamran Murtaza during an informal media briefing in the federal capital on Tuesday, highlighting the veteran politician’s renewed efforts to mediate the country’s highly polarized political landscape.

Speaking to journalists in Islamabad, Senator Kamran Murtaza emphasized that Maulana Fazlur Rehman strongly believes a sustainable resolution to Pakistan’s current governance and constitutional crises can only be achieved through direct, unconditional negotiations. Murtaza stated that the JUI-F chief is deeply concerned about the prevailing political instability and is keen on bridging the deep divide between the opposition and the treasury benches, urging both sides to show flexibility and prioritize national interests over partisan gains.

The mediation proposal comes at a critical juncture as Pakistan grapples with intense political friction, economic challenges, and frequent opposition protests. A successful reconciliation or even the initiation of a formal dialogue between the PTI and the government could significantly lower the political temperature, offering much-needed predictability to the country’s volatile economic environment and restoring public confidence in the parliamentary system.

While both the government and the PTI have previously maintained rigid, uncompromising stances against each other, political analysts suggest that JUI-F’s neutral positioning could serve as a viable bridge. Observers and stakeholders will be closely watching the official responses from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) led coalition and the PTI leadership in the coming days to see if formal consultative meetings will be scheduled.
