FBR Mandates Surveillance Cameras for Textile Units by November 2026
ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has mandated that all registered textile spinning units in Pakistan install video surveillance cameras by November 15, 2026. This directive aims to enhance monitoring of the processing of natural, synthetic, and blended fibres, ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
The order, issued through Sales Tax General Order No. 30, requires textile manufacturers to electronically track the processing of various fibres, including cotton and synthetic materials. An FBR spokesperson emphasized that this initiative is part of a broader strategy to improve transparency and accountability within the textile sector, which is a significant contributor to Pakistan’s economy.
This move is expected to have far-reaching implications for the textile industry, which has faced scrutiny over tax evasion and compliance issues. By implementing surveillance systems, the FBR aims to bolster revenue collection and ensure that manufacturers adhere to legal standards, ultimately benefiting the national economy.
As the deadline approaches, textile units will need to prepare for the installation of these systems. The FBR is expected to conduct inspections to ensure compliance, and further guidelines may be issued to assist manufacturers in meeting the new requirements.
