Federal Ombudsman Introduces OTP System to Combat False Complaints

LAHORE: Federal Ombudsman Nawid Karam Baloch launched a new One-Time Password (OTP) system on Wednesday aimed at reducing false complaints and safeguarding the personal data of individuals filing grievances. The initiative was unveiled during a monthly review meeting at the Regional Office of the Federal Ombudsman in Lahore.

Baloch emphasized that the OTP system will require complainants to verify their identity before submitting complaints online. This move is designed to enhance the integrity of the complaint process and ensure that only legitimate grievances are addressed. ‘This system will not only protect the rights of genuine complainants but also streamline the complaint resolution process,’ Baloch stated.

The introduction of the OTP system is expected to have significant implications for citizens, as it aims to foster a more trustworthy environment for reporting issues. By deterring frivolous complaints, the Federal Ombudsman hopes to allocate resources more effectively and improve overall service delivery. This initiative aligns with broader efforts to digitize public services in Pakistan.

Looking ahead, the Federal Ombudsman plans to monitor the effectiveness of the OTP system and may consider further enhancements based on user feedback. Additional training sessions for staff on the new system are also scheduled to ensure a smooth transition.
