FPCCI Urges Government to Extend Income Tax Return Filing Deadline

KARACHI: The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has called on the government to extend the deadline for filing income tax returns, citing challenges faced by taxpayers amid ongoing economic pressures.

In a statement released on Monday, FPCCI President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh emphasized that many businesses are struggling to meet the current deadline due to various factors, including inflation and supply chain disruptions. He urged the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to consider the extension to alleviate the burden on taxpayers and ensure compliance.

This request comes at a time when the business community is grappling with rising costs and economic uncertainty. An extension could provide much-needed relief, allowing businesses to better prepare their financial statements and fulfill their tax obligations without undue stress.

The FPCCI plans to meet with FBR officials later this week to discuss this matter further and advocate for the interests of the business community. Stakeholders are hopeful that the government will respond positively to this request, recognizing the importance of supporting economic stability.
