ISLAMABAD: The Prime Minister’s subcommittee has unveiled a comprehensive roadmap aimed at enhancing shrimp farming, value addition, and export growth, granting a 120-day deadline for its implementation.

During a meeting led by Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, the committee discussed strategies to bolster the aquaculture sector, which is seen as a vital component of Pakistan’s economy. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of this initiative in creating jobs and increasing foreign exchange earnings through enhanced exports.

This initiative is expected to have significant implications for the local economy, particularly in coastal regions where shrimp farming is prevalent. By improving production techniques and value chains, the government aims to position Pakistan as a competitive player in the global seafood market.

Looking ahead, the subcommittee plans to convene regular meetings to monitor progress and address challenges in the implementation of the roadmap. Stakeholders from the aquaculture industry will also be engaged to ensure a collaborative approach to achieving the set targets.
