Govt Issues Urgent Warning to Civil Servants Over Foreign Nationality Declarations
ISLAMABAD: The Establishment Division has issued a stern warning to officers from the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS), Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), Secretariat Group (SG), and Office Management Group (OMG) to submit mandatory declarations regarding foreign nationality within one week. This directive comes in light of several officers failing to comply with the Civil Servants (Disclosure of Assets and Liabilities) Act.
The Office Memorandum emphasizes the importance of transparency and accountability among civil servants, stating that non-compliance could lead to disciplinary actions. An official from the Establishment Division remarked, “It is crucial for the integrity of our public service that all officers disclose their foreign nationalities to maintain trust and transparency in governance.”
This development raises significant concerns about the implications for governance and public trust in Pakistan. As civil servants play a vital role in the administration, their foreign affiliations could potentially influence their decision-making processes, thereby affecting the overall governance landscape. Citizens are increasingly demanding accountability from their leaders, and this move is seen as a step towards enhancing transparency.
In the coming days, the Establishment Division is expected to monitor compliance closely and may initiate investigations into officers who fail to meet the deadline. This situation underscores the government’s commitment to uphold ethical standards within the civil service and may lead to further reforms aimed at ensuring accountability.
