Hassan Khan Receives First USA Call-Up for ICC Cricket World Cup League 2

WASHINGTON: Former Pakistan Under-19 captain Hassan Khan has been selected for the United States squad for the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 tri-series against the UAE and Namibia, as reported by Cricbuzz.

The left-arm spinning all-rounder steps in for fast bowler Ali Khan, who has been sidelined due to a hamstring injury. This marks a significant milestone for Hassan, who is set to make his senior international debut nearly a decade after leading Pakistan at the 2018 Under-19 World Cup, a tournament that also showcased future stars like Shaheen Shah Afridi and Musa Khan.

Once hailed as one of Pakistan’s most promising young talents, Hassan faced limited opportunities in his home country, making only sporadic appearances in the Pakistan Super League. His career took a turn when he relocated to the United States, where he revitalized his game in Major League Cricket. During the 2024 MLC season, he amassed 204 runs at an average of 40.80 and a strike rate of 143.66, alongside taking 10 wickets. His impressive form continued into the 2025 season, where he scored 225 runs at a remarkable strike rate of 187.50, including 17 sixes.

Hassan’s selection not only highlights his personal journey but also reflects the growing talent pool in American cricket. As the USA aims to establish itself on the international stage, players like Hassan could play a pivotal role in elevating the sport’s profile in the country. His debut is eagerly anticipated by fans and selectors alike, who hope he can replicate his domestic success on the international front.

Looking ahead, the USA team will compete in the tri-series, with matches scheduled against the UAE and Namibia, providing Hassan with a platform to showcase his skills on a global stage.
