MOSCOW: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated on Tuesday that the Middle East is capable of addressing its challenges independently of the United States. Speaking during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, Pezeshkian emphasized the region’s potential for self-reliance.

“I believe we are capable of resolving our problems in the region without relying on the United States,” Pezeshkian remarked, highlighting the growing trade relations among regional nations. He noted that US actions have inadvertently fostered a shift towards multilateralism, enabling enhanced cooperation among countries facing unilateral sanctions.

Putin expressed hope for an improvement in the regional situation, acknowledging the ongoing discussions about the war and its implications. The dialogue between the two leaders underscores a broader trend of nations seeking to navigate geopolitical tensions without US intervention, potentially reshaping alliances and economic partnerships.

Looking ahead, the Iranian leadership is expected to continue its discussions with regional partners, including Saudi Arabia and Qatar, as they seek to establish a more cohesive approach to regional stability. The emphasis on good faith negotiations, particularly from Doha, suggests a willingness among Gulf states to engage with Tehran constructively.
