JI Calls for Audit of Rs. 1.26 Billion Collected for MDCAT 2026 Fees

KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has demanded an independent audit of the Rs. 1.26 billion collected by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) for the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2026, citing alleged irregularities and concerns over transparency in the examination process.

In a letter addressed to PMDC President Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj, JI Karachi chief Monem Zafar emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into the financial management of the fees collected. Zafar expressed that the lack of transparency raises significant questions about the integrity of the examination process and the proper utilization of funds.

This demand for an audit comes at a time when students and parents are increasingly concerned about the rising costs associated with medical education in Pakistan. The substantial fee collection has sparked debates about the accountability of educational institutions and regulatory bodies, highlighting the need for reforms in the sector.

JI has urged the PMDC to take immediate action to address these concerns, with expectations for a formal response and potential investigations into the financial practices surrounding the MDCAT. The party’s call for transparency reflects broader societal demands for accountability in public institutions.
