K-Electric Assures Sindh High Court of Uninterrupted Power at Asad Chamber

K-Electric Load Shedding

KARACHI: Power utility K-Electric has formally assured a constitutional bench of the Sindh High Court (SHC) that unannounced power load-shedding in the Asad Chamber area of Saddar, Karachi, will be brought to an immediate end. The assurance came during the hearing of a constitutional petition filed by members of the legal community, who highlighted severe disruptions to their daily professional duties and judicial responsibilities caused by persistent and unscheduled power outages in the commercial district.

During the proceedings before the SHC constitutional bench, counsel representing the aggrieved lawyers informed the court that prolonged power cuts in and around Asad Chamber had crippled essential legal work, case research, and administrative preparations. In response, legal representatives for K-Electric submitted a binding undertaking, confirming that the utility provider is actively rectifying localized distribution issues to ensure continuous, uninterrupted electricity supply to the affected judicial offices.

The persistent issue of unannounced load-shedding in Karachi’s vital financial and legal hubs has frequently drawn sharp criticism from commercial bodies, trade associations, and civic groups across the metropolis. Business leaders and legal professionals in Saddar have voiced rising frustration over operational delays, financial losses, and adverse working conditions, repeatedly urging regulatory bodies like NEPRA to enforce strict service standards on the power company.

The Sindh High Court directed K-Electric to strictly adhere to its commitments and submit a comprehensive performance and compliance report regarding power stability in the affected zone. The bench subsequently adjourned the hearing, while legal observers emphasized that judicial scrutiny on utility management could set a crucial precedent for addressing chronic municipal load-shedding throughout the port city.
