KP Governor Kundi Vows Security Priority, Rejects Division Rumours

KP Governor Kundi

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has declared that eradicating terrorism and restoring lasting peace remain the top priorities of the provincial administration, alongside driving comprehensive socioeconomic development across the region. Speaking to local elders after presiding over a high-level administrative meeting on Wednesday, the governor highlighted recent departmental briefings on law and order, security arrangements, and regional infrastructure development aimed at restoring public confidence and stability.

Addressing recent public concerns, Governor Kundi forcefully dismissed rumors claiming that 12 districts recently designated under emergency status were being carved out into a separate province or merged with former tribal areas. He clarified that these specific districts were prioritized strictly due to being severely affected by terrorism. Under the federal government’s initiative, 70 percent of the prime minister’s Rs160 billion federal development package will be directly allocated to these vulnerable areas. Additionally, foundational work for the Daanish School System is underway, complemented by a dedicated Rs40 billion provincial allocation targeting the Bannu, Malakand, and Dera Ismail Khan divisions.

The governor’s assurances come at a critical juncture for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where rising security challenges have exacerbated economic distress and administrative friction. By aligning federal funding with targeted local development, the administration aims to neutralize extremist narratives, bolster infrastructure, and improve access to quality education. The clear dismissal of administrative division rumors also serves to stabilize political discourse in the border province.

Looking ahead, provincial authorities are set to fast-track the execution of key development projects while coordinating closely with law enforcement agencies to fortify security measures. Governor Kundi reiterated that sustained dialogue with local elders and departmental heads will continue in the coming weeks to ensure transparent implementation of the multi-billion-rupee uplift schemes across the province.
