KP Governor Pledges Full Cooperation With Centre and All Provinces
PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Wednesday reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining robust ties with the federation, asserting that the province will walk hand-in-hand with the federal government and remain on the same page with all federating units to foster national harmony.
Speaking to media representatives in the provincial capital, Governor Kundi underscored that political polarization must not hinder administrative coordination and economic progress. He stated that national development relies on seamless cooperation between the Centre and provincial governments, particularly on critical issues such as resource distribution, counter-terrorism measures, and fiscal stability. He noted that working in isolation or perpetuating institutional friction only exacerbates public hardship.
The governor’s remarks arrive against the backdrop of persistent administrative friction between the federal coalition and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led provincial administration in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Observers note that enduring disputes regarding provincial rights, security funding, and national apex committee decisions have strained inter-governmental communication. Kundi emphasized that collaborative dialogue through constitutional forums remains the sole viable mechanism to resolve pending financial and structural challenges confronting KP.
Moving forward, the Governor House is expected to engage political stakeholders across party lines to facilitate regular consultative dialogues with federal ministries. Observers anticipate that sustained outreach could pave the way for a more cooperative framework between Islamabad and Peshawar, particularly in tackling security challenges and accelerating vital developmental initiatives across the merged tribal districts.
