KPRA Alerts Businesses About Fraudsters Posing as Revenue Officers
PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority (KPRA) has issued a warning to taxpayers and business owners regarding a surge in fraudulent activities where impostors are posing as KPRA officials to solicit money and sensitive information.
In an official statement, KPRA confirmed that it has received multiple complaints from the business community about unidentified individuals contacting them while claiming to be KPRA representatives. The authority emphasized that these impersonators are attempting to exploit the trust of taxpayers and urged the public to remain vigilant. A KPRA spokesperson stated, “We are taking these reports seriously and advise everyone to verify the identity of anyone claiming to be from our office before sharing any personal or financial information.”
This alarming trend raises significant concerns about the integrity of taxpayer information and the potential financial losses for businesses. The KPRA’s warning serves as a critical reminder for the public to exercise caution and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. The rise in such scams not only undermines the trust in governmental institutions but also poses a risk to the overall economic environment.
In response to these incidents, KPRA plans to enhance its communication strategies and may initiate an awareness campaign to educate the public on identifying legitimate officials. The authority is also considering collaborating with law enforcement agencies to investigate these fraudulent activities further.
