Lahore Court Extends Remand of Suspects in $126 Million Postal Fraud Case
LAHORE: A judicial magistrate has extended the physical remand of two suspects involved in an alleged Rs35 billion fraud linked to the online sale of counterfeit US postage labels. The suspects, Faheem Akram and Naeem, were presented in court by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) on Monday.
Magistrate Naeem Wattoo granted the NCCIA custody of both suspects until October 30, following the completion of Akram’s previous five-day remand. The agency claims that Akram operated a website, LabelsBank.com, since August 2023, selling over five million fake postal tickets, leading to significant financial losses.
According to the US Department of Justice, Akram was indicted by a federal grand jury in Florida in September 2026 for allegedly selling more than 5.1 million counterfeit postage labels, which resulted in losses exceeding $126 million to the US Postal Service. This case highlights the growing issue of cybercrime and its implications for international postal services.
The NCCIA is expected to continue its investigation into the operation of the website and the broader network involved in this fraudulent scheme. Further developments are anticipated as the agency seeks to uncover additional suspects and prevent future cyber fraud.
