Lahore Gymkhana Suspends Member for Hooliganism Amid Social Media Outcry
LAHORE: The Lahore Gymkhana Club has suspended the membership of a prominent member’s son following his alleged involvement in a violent incident at the club, prompting the formation of a three-member committee to investigate the matter.
The decision comes after a video circulated on social media, showing individuals engaging in disruptive behavior within the club premises. Club chairman Salman Saddique emphasized that the suspension aligns with the club’s standard operating procedures (SOP) for serious breaches of discipline, applicable to any member, regardless of their status.
According to sources, the suspended member reportedly misbehaved with club staff and threw plates at other members during a dispute over a guest issue. The incident has drawn condemnation from fellow club members, who are calling for the executive committee to take further action against those involved and implement measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
The standing discipline committee, composed of independent senior members, is currently reviewing the incident. The outcome of this investigation may lead to additional disciplinary actions and a reevaluation of club policies regarding member conduct.
