Lahore Police Secure Three-Day Remand of Woman in Azeri Rape Case

LAHORE: A judicial magistrate granted Lahore police a three-day physical remand of a woman linked to the alleged gang rape of a 20-year-old Azerbaijani national. The incident reportedly occurred in a rented flat within a private housing society near Raiwind on the night of September 25-26.

The complainant, who had traveled to Pakistan for business, claims she was assaulted by three men after meeting them through two women she had previously encountered. Two of the accused were arrested earlier and are currently under a six-day physical remand.

During the court proceedings, the prosecutor emphasized the necessity of the woman’s remand, citing her gender as a reason for potential incarceration during this period. However, the defense attorney argued that the suspect’s relationship with the complainant was limited and did not warrant such measures.
