Lahore Traffic Police Issues Over 10,000 Challans to Combat Smog Crisis
LAHORE: The Lahore Traffic Police have issued more than 10,000 challans against smoke-emitting vehicles in September, as part of intensified efforts to combat the city’s worsening smog crisis. This surge in enforcement comes as authorities ramp up measures to address environmental violations and improve air quality across the region.
According to officials, the enforcement operations have increased by 215% compared to August and are a staggering 1,149% higher than the levels recorded in January. The police are actively conducting inspections throughout Lahore, targeting vehicles that contribute to the city’s notorious air pollution.
This aggressive approach to tackling smog not only aims to enhance public health but also reflects a growing awareness of environmental issues among citizens. The significant rise in challans indicates a shift in policy and public compliance, as Lahore grapples with the adverse effects of air pollution on daily life and health.
Moving forward, the Lahore Traffic Police plan to maintain their rigorous inspection regime and may introduce additional measures to further curb emissions from vehicles. Authorities are also expected to engage with local communities to raise awareness about the importance of reducing pollution and adhering to environmental regulations.
