CHITRAL: In a bid to enhance public service delivery and facilitate citizens, law enforcement authorities in Lower Chitral have deployed dedicated ‘Helper Police’ personnel across all police stations in the district. The operational initiative has been launched following direct orders from Regional Police Officer (RPO) Malakand Zahid Nawaz Marwat and special directives issued by District Police Officer (DPO) Lower Chitral Muhammad Khalid Khan, aiming to reshape public interactions with law enforcement.

According to official representatives, the newly posted front-desk helper personnel are assigned to guide visitors, streamline complaint processing, address public grievances promptly, and ensure a courteous environment inside police facilities. DPO Muhammad Khalid Khan highlighted that the deployment is specifically tailored to eliminate procedural delays and ensure that citizens, regardless of background, receive immediate guidance and assistance upon entering any police establishment in the district.

The administrative shift reflects broader ongoing police reform strategies across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa focused on institutionalizing public-centric service and modernizing frontline station operations. Local community leaders and civil society members have appreciated the measure, noting that dedicated facilitation desks will help alleviate public apprehension when seeking legal aid, particularly benefiting senior citizens, women, and individuals unfamiliar with legal documentation procedures.

Moving forward, district police supervisory officers will conduct unannounced inspections and routine performance audits across all stations to evaluate the operational effectiveness of the helper desks. Police management confirmed that structured citizen feedback mechanisms are also being integrated to maintain high standards of professional accountability and public service throughout the Malakand division.
