Lucky Cement Expands Production Capacity in Pakistan and Congo to Meet Demand

Lucky Cement expansion

KARACHI: Lucky Cement Limited has announced a significant expansion of its cement production capacity in both Pakistan and the Democratic Republic of Congo, aiming to meet the surging demand for cement and enhance its international footprint. The company revealed its plans during the first-quarter FY27 corporate briefing, detailing an addition of 3.2 million tons per year (MTPA) of production capacity at its Karachi facility.

In a statement, Lucky Cement emphasized the strategic importance of this expansion, noting that it aligns with the company’s long-term growth objectives. The management highlighted that the increased capacity will not only cater to local market needs but also bolster exports, thereby contributing to the national economy. The company has been a key player in the cement industry, and this move is expected to solidify its position further.

This expansion comes at a time when the construction sector in Pakistan is witnessing a revival, driven by government initiatives and infrastructure projects. Analysts suggest that such investments are crucial for economic stability and growth, particularly in the face of rising construction costs and material shortages.

Looking ahead, Lucky Cement plans to initiate the expansion project in the coming months, with timelines for completion expected to be announced shortly. The company is also exploring additional opportunities in the international market, particularly in Africa, to diversify its operations and revenue streams.
