Mandatory Registration of Firearm Licenses Enforced in Azad Kashmir

firearm licenses registration

MUZAFFARABAD: The government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has implemented a new policy mandating the immediate registration of firearm licenses at local police stations. This initiative aims to enhance public safety and ensure better regulation of firearms within the region.

According to the Interior Department, residents holding firearm licenses are required to register them at their nearest police station. The Station House Officer (SHO) or a designated representative will record the license details and issue a registration slip. This process is expected to streamline the management of firearms and improve accountability among license holders.

The enforcement of this policy signifies a proactive approach by the authorities to address concerns regarding illegal firearms and enhance security measures in the region. By ensuring that all firearm licenses are registered, the government aims to mitigate risks associated with unregulated weapon ownership and promote a safer environment for citizens.

Moving forward, the Interior Department plans to conduct regular audits of registered licenses and will release certified lists to maintain transparency. Citizens are encouraged to comply with the new regulations promptly to avoid potential legal repercussions.
