Megan Schutt Suspended for Two Matches Over Medication Breach

MELBOURNE: Star Australian fast bowler Megan Schutt has been suspended for two matches due to a breach of prescription medication rules, Cricket Australia announced on Thursday.

The 33-year-old, who recently excelled in Australia’s one-day series against Bangladesh, expressed her regret for not meeting the standards expected of her. In a statement, Cricket Australia clarified that the breach involved a single incident occurring while Schutt was out of competition and was not related to performance-enhancing drugs.

This suspension means Schutt will miss the third and final T20 match against New Zealand on Thursday, as well as the opening game of the Women’s Big Bash League later this month. Cricket Australia emphasized its commitment to supporting Schutt while reinforcing the standards and responsibilities required of all players.

“I fully accept the penalty handed down and apologise for failing to meet the standards expected of me,” Schutt stated, acknowledging the attention the situation has garnered. With 114 ODIs and 126 T20s under her belt, her absence will be felt in the upcoming matches.
