Muneeba Ali to Captain Pakistan in ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy 2026
ISLAMABAD: Muneeba Ali has been appointed as the captain of the Pakistan women’s cricket team for the ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy 2026, as announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday. The tournament is set to take place in Ajman, United Arab Emirates, from November 12 to 25.
Ayesha Zafar will serve as the vice-captain, and the squad includes 12 players retained from Pakistan’s previous assignment. Notably, Sadaf Shamas and Waheeda Akhtar have been recalled to the team. Regular captain Fatima Sana will miss the tournament due to her commitment to participate in her first season of the Women’s Big Bash League in Australia.
This squad announcement follows Pakistan’s recent achievement of securing a bronze medal at the Asian Games in Japan. The inclusion of wicket-keeper-batter Gull Feroza, who was recognized as the best wicketkeeper-batter at the National Women’s T20 Tournament, adds depth to the team. The batting lineup features Ayesha, Eman Naseer, Eyman Fatima, Sadaf, Saira Jabeen, and Shawaal Zulfiqar, with Muneeba and Gull providing wicket-keeping options.
On the bowling front, left-arm spinner Nashra Sundhu will lead the attack, supported by Momina Riasat, Tuba Hassan, and Umm-e-Hani in the spin department. The team is poised to showcase their skills on an international platform, with hopes of building on their recent successes.
