Official Records Stolen from Bannu Tehsil Municipal Administration Office

Bannu TMA theft

BANNU: The theft of crucial official records from the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) office in Bannu has been reported, with significant registers and files missing from the Tehsil Officer Regulation (TOR) branch. The incident came to light when the office reopened last Monday, revealing that drawers and cupboards had been left unlocked.

In a formal complaint lodged at the city police station, TMA officials indicated that the missing records include vital documents such as the Mazari Mandi records, the D&C register, goods warehouse records, entry fee records, and all challan books related to Fazal Qadir Shaheed Park. Rahatullah Shah, a senior assistant in the TOR branch, highlighted that the office keys were in the possession of an employee over the weekend prior to the discovery of the theft.

This incident raises serious concerns about the security of official documents and the potential implications for local governance and accountability. The loss of such records could hinder administrative functions and affect public trust in the TMA’s ability to manage local affairs effectively.

TMA Bannu’s Tehsil Municipal Officer, Fakhrul Islam, has requested the police to file a first information report and initiate an investigation to recover the stolen records. The local authorities are under pressure to ensure that such incidents do not recur and to enhance security measures within government offices.
