Pakistan Aims to Boost Mineral Exports to $8 Billion Through Strategic Reforms

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is setting its sights on increasing mineral exports from $3 billion to $8 billion by enhancing policies, infrastructure, and investment in the mining sector. This ambitious target is part of the country’s broader strategy to strengthen its position in global critical mineral supply chains.

The government has identified 92 minerals across the nation, with 52 currently being extracted. Officials emphasize that improving the regulatory framework and attracting foreign investment are crucial to achieving this goal. A spokesperson from the Ministry of Mines stated, “We are committed to creating a conducive environment for investors, which will ultimately benefit our economy and create jobs for our citizens.”

This initiative is expected to have significant implications for Pakistan’s economy, potentially transforming the mining sector into a key driver of growth. By tapping into its rich mineral resources, the country aims to reduce its trade deficit and enhance its export portfolio, which could lead to increased foreign exchange reserves and economic stability.

Looking ahead, the government plans to hold a series of consultations with industry stakeholders to refine its approach and ensure that the necessary infrastructure improvements are made. The Ministry of Mines is also expected to release a detailed roadmap outlining specific steps and timelines for achieving the $8 billion target.
