Pakistan Airports Authority Installs New Wind Shear System at Islamabad Airport

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) is set to enhance aviation safety at Islamabad International Airport with the installation of a Low-Level Wind Shear System (LLWS) at a cost of Rs254 million. This critical infrastructure project is expected to be completed within six months.

The LLWS will utilize a ground-based network to detect sudden changes in wind speed and direction, providing real-time warnings to Air Traffic Control. This initiative aims to mitigate the risks associated with wind shear, which can pose significant hazards during takeoff and landing.

The implementation of this system is a significant step towards improving the safety standards of Pakistan’s aviation sector. Officials from the PAA emphasized that the LLWS will not only enhance operational safety but also boost the confidence of passengers and airlines in the country’s air travel infrastructure.

As the project progresses, the PAA will continue to monitor its development closely, with plans for further enhancements to airport safety protocols. Stakeholders are optimistic that the new system will lead to a reduction in weather-related incidents at the airport.
