Pakistan and Turkiye Commit to Dialogue and Defence Strengthening: PM Shehbaz
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced on Thursday that Pakistan and Turkiye will persist in advocating for dialogue and diplomacy while enhancing their defence capabilities under the Makkah Defence Agreement.
Speaking at an event in Islamabad to commemorate Turkiye’s 103rd national day, PM Shehbaz highlighted the significance of the pact signed on August 7 between Pakistan, Turkiye, and Saudi Arabia, describing it as an “important milestone” in the cooperation between Islamabad and Ankara. He emphasized that the agreement fortifies their collective deterrence and underscores their mutual commitment to regional peace and stability.
This collaboration is expected to bolster not only military ties but also the broader diplomatic relationship between the two nations, which share a long history of strong bilateral ties and multi-sectoral cooperation. The Prime Minister’s remarks reflect a strategic alignment aimed at addressing regional security challenges and fostering a stable environment.
Looking ahead, both nations are expected to engage in further discussions to solidify their defence strategies and explore additional avenues for cooperation, particularly in light of evolving geopolitical dynamics in the region.
