Pakistan Asserts Right to Self-Defence Against Afghanistan-Based Terrorism
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s military reaffirmed its right to self-defence against terrorism originating from Afghanistan, with Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stating on Thursday that “everything necessary will be done” to protect the nation’s sovereignty.
During a press briefing aimed at countering Indian media claims regarding a wanted individual linked to a past terrorist attack, Chaudhry emphasized that Pakistan’s policy is clear: there will be no compromise on its territorial integrity or security. He reiterated that any threats to the stability of Pakistan would be met with decisive action.
This statement comes amid rising concerns over cross-border terrorism and its implications for regional security. The military’s firm stance reflects a broader commitment to safeguarding the nation against external threats, which could have significant ramifications for Pakistan’s diplomatic relations and internal security policies.
Looking ahead, the military’s leadership is expected to continue monitoring the situation closely, with potential discussions on enhancing border security and counter-terrorism measures in collaboration with international partners.
